Violet Coated Vicryl 4-0 SH Taper 18" Suture is a synthetic absorbable braided suture designed for soft tissue approximation and ligation. The suture is composed of polyglactin 910, a copolymer of glycolide and lactide, which provides predictable absorption and excellent tensile strength retention during the critical wound healing period. The violet coating enhances visibility during surgical procedures, aiding precise placement and handling.

The SH taper needle is half-circle shaped with a taper point, allowing smooth penetration and minimal tissue trauma. This needle type is ideal for delicate and friable tissues, offering precise control and reducing the risk of tearing. The needle’s length and curvature are optimized for a variety of surgical applications, particularly in general, gynecological, and ophthalmic surgeries.

Vicryl sutures retain approximately 50% of their tensile strength at three weeks, with complete absorption occurring between 56 and 70 days post-implantation.
