Description

Prolia® (denosumab) is a medication used to treat osteoporosis in individuals at high risk for fractures and bone loss. Each prefilled syringe contains 60 mg/mL of denosumab in a 1 mL volume, formulated without preservatives to minimize the risk of allergic reactions and ensure optimal safety for patients with sensitive conditions.

Denosumab, a monoclonal antibody, functions by inhibiting RANKL (Receptor Activator of Nuclear Factor kappa-B Ligand), a key protein involved in the formation and activation of osteoclasts, which are responsible for bone resorption.

The prefilled syringe design of Prolia® ensures precise dosing and ease of administration. The 1 mL volume is conveniently administered as a subcutaneous injection, typically once every six months. This dosing schedule supports patient compliance by reducing the frequency of administration, which is advantageous for long-term management of osteoporosis.

Prolia® is used primarily in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis, men with osteoporosis, and individuals receiving certain cancer treatments that affect bone health.
