Description

Progesterone Capsule 200 mg is indicated for the prevention of endometrial hyperplasia in postmenopausal women undergoing estrogen replacement therapy. It provides the necessary progestational effect to counterbalance estrogen’s proliferative action on the endometrium. It is commonly used as luteal phase support in assisted reproductive technology and fertility treatments.

The capsule is administered orally, typically at bedtime, to minimize dizziness and other central nervous system effects. The dosing regimen may vary depending on the indication and patient response. Clinical monitoring is advised during long-term use, especially for patients with a history of cardiovascular or thromboembolic disorders.

Adverse effects include dizziness, headache, and breast tenderness. Though generally well tolerated, patients must be monitored for signs of thromboembolism. Serious complications such as deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism, though rare, require prompt medical evaluation. The formulation contains peanut oil and must not be used by individuals with peanut allergies.
