Description
Docusate Sodium 100 mg Softgel is a stool softener used to relieve occasional constipation and promote regular bowel movements. It is designed to soften the stool by increasing water retention in the intestines, making bowel movements easier and more comfortable. This medication is frequently used to alleviate discomfort associated with irregularity, providing gentle relief without the harsh stimulant effects seen in other laxatives.
The mechanism of action of docusate sodium involves surfactant activity that reduces the surface tension of stool, allowing water and fats to penetrate more easily. This leads to a softened stool that can pass through the intestines with minimal strain, making it particularly useful for individuals experiencing mild to moderate constipation.
Docusate sodium 100 mg Softgel is stimulant-free, meaning it does not cause the cramping or urgency typically associated with other laxatives. This makes it a preferable option for individuals who require a gentler, more gradual approach to managing constipation. The softgel formulation allows for easy ingestion, providing a convenient option for regular use.
