Description

Depo testosterone is an intramuscular injection that comes in a 10 ml vial of strength 200 mg/ml. Each ml of 200 mg/ml solution contains 200 mg testosterone cypionate, 0.2 ml benzyl benzoate, 560 mg cottonseed oil, and 9.45 mg benzyl alcohol as a preservative. Depo-test injection is indicated to treat symptoms of delayed puberty in males, impotence, hormonal imbalances and breast cancer that is inoperable. It is used for replacement therapy in males in conditions associated with endogenous testosterone deficiency.

The conditions include primary hypogonadism and hypogonadotropic hypogonadism.

The injection is administered through an intramuscular route only. The preferred area is deep gluteal muscle. It should be noted that in diabetic patients, metabolic effects of androgen may decrease the level of blood glucose that in turn decreases the insulin requirement. The typical dose lies around 50 mg to 400 mg that is injected slowly every 2 to 4 weeks. Protect the vial from sunlight and store it in a controlled room temperature (20°C to 25°C).
