Description

Cocaine HCl is a 4% (40 mg/ml) clear green-blue nasal solution that is supplied in a single-dose of 4 ml. Each 1 ml of 4% cocaine HCl solution contains 40 mg of cocaine hydrochloride that is equivalent to 35.7 mg of free base cocaine as aqueous solution intended for topical nasal application. The cocaine HCl nasal solution is used to induce local anesthesia in mucous membranes while performing surgeries or diagnostic procedures through the nasal cavities.

The recommended dose lies between 40 mg to 160 mg varying upon the area to be anesthetized and the procedure to perform. The total dose for one procedure must not exceed 3 mg/kg cocaine hydrochloride. To administer, draw 4 ml of cocaine hydrochloride into a milliliter calibrated syringe. Stack four pledgets and on the top of them, apply 2 ml of the solution. Apply 2 ml on the other side of the pledgets. Place one or two pledgets in each nostril and leave in place for up to 20 minutes. Remove the pledgets after the recommended time and continue the procedure. In case of any adverse effects occurring, remove the pledgets immediately.
