Triamcinolone acetonide ointment comes in a strength of 0.1% in 15 g tube. Triamcinolone ointment is a topical prescription corticosteroid used to treat discomfort and swelling. Primarily, it is used for certain skin conditions including eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, and other allergic reactions related to skin. Since Triamcinolone acetonide is a corticosteroid it works by preventing inflammation in various skin conditions. It reduces itchiness, scaling, dryness and redness on the infected area.
Avoid taking live attenuated vaccines while using triamcinolone acetonide ointment. Always wash your hands before using the ointment. Apply a thin film of ointment to the affected area and rub gently. Let the area stay open after the ointment is applied, don't cover it. Ointment is usually applied 2 to 4 times a day. Avoid getting triamcinolone ointment in the eyes, nose and mouth. If the ointment gets in the eyes, it may cause or worsen the already existing glaucoma. In such a scenario, irrigate the area with plenty of water.
