Description
Coated VICRYL™ Plus Antibacterial Suture, Undyed, 27", Size 2-0 is a synthetic absorbable suture composed of Polyglactin 910, a copolymer of glycolide and lactide. It is coated with a combination of polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate to enhance handling and reduce tissue drag. It contains triclosan, an antibacterial agent effective against pathogens commonly associated with surgical site infections.
The suture features a braided structure that provides excellent knot security and ease of handling. The undyed version is designed for low-visibility applications such as plastic or subcutaneous surgeries. The inclusion of triclosan creates a zone of inhibition against bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, MRSA, and MRSE, offering added protection during the early phase of wound healing.
The attached FSL needle is a 30 mm 1/2 circle taper point needle, suited for soft tissue penetration without cutting. The 27-inch strand allows flexibility in closure length. This suture is commonly used in general, gynecological, and subcuticular procedures requiring antibacterial protection.
