Undyed Coated Vicryl 4-0 TF 27" Suture is an absorbable, synthetic suture composed of a copolymer made from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. It is coated with a mixture that includes polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate to enhance handling properties and knot security. The suture is braided to provide excellent pliability, allowing smooth tissue passage and precise placement. 

This suture is primarily used for general soft tissue approximation and ligation. It is also appropriate for ophthalmic procedures, offering surgeons a reliable solution in eye surgeries due to its smooth handling and secure knot formation. It is not recommended for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues. 

The suture maintains approximately 50% of its original tensile strength at the end of the third week post-implantation. This predictable degradation profile allows for secure wound support during the critical initial healing period, after which the need for mechanical strength diminishes.
