Description

VICRYL™ Coated Braided Absorbable Suture, Size 1, Undyed, with CT-1 Needle, is a sterile synthetic surgical suture composed of a copolymer made from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. The suture is coated with a mixture of polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate to improve handling and knot security. This specific configuration includes an 8-18 inch length and features a CT-1 taper point needle, suitable for smooth penetration in soft tissue.

The VICRYL™ suture is designed for general soft tissue approximation and ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures, but is not indicated for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues. The absorbable nature of VICRYL™ allows it to maintain tensile strength for approximately 2–3 weeks post-implantation, after which it is gradually broken down and absorbed by the body through hydrolysis.

This suture's undyed color is ideal for situations where suture visibility is not critical, and it minimizes pigmentation within the tissue. The braided design enhances knot-holding capabilities, while the coating ensures smoother passage through tissue, reducing potential trauma.
