Description
RECOMBIVAX is a single-dose vaccine that comes in a pack of 10 vials and prefilled syringes. Each vial contains 5 mcg of Hepatitis B surface antigen per 0.5 ml. It is indicated for prevention against all known subtypes of Hepatitis B. RECOMBIVAX is approved for use in all age groups. For peads (0 to 19 years of age), 3 doses of vaccine are administered at 0, 1 and 6 months intervals 0.5 ml each.
RECOMBIVAX should not be injected in the gluteal region as administration in the buttocks has resulted in lower seroconversion rates. The Deltoid region is the preferred site for IM injection.
The vaccine is administered intramuscularly only. For individuals with a risk of hemorrhage following IM injection, subcutaneous administration is recommended. Do not mix RECOMBIVAX with other vaccines in the same vial or syringe. Always use a separate injection site or syringe for each vaccine. Administer the vaccine as soon as it is taken out from the refrigerator.
