Description
Proquad is a single-dose vial that supplies 0.5ml of the lyophilized vaccine. It is administered for active immunization against measles, mumps, varicella, and rubella in children from 12 months to 12 years of age. The first dose is usually given from 12 to 15 months but can be given through 12 years. Preservatives or antiviral agents in other diluents may inactive the vaccine therefore, the vaccine must be reconstituted only with the provided diluent.
Inspect visually for particulate matter and discoloration before administration. The reconstituted vaccine must be administered within 30 minutes of formation, and it can be stored at room temperature. It should not be used after 30 minutes of reconstitution, or else the potency will be lost.
This vaccine should not be administered to patients who are immunocompromised due to any active illness or ongoing therapy. Avoid its administration to individuals with active untreated tuberculosis, and febrile illness with a temperature of more than 101°F.
