Description

PEDVAXHIB is a 0.5 ml of single-dose liquid vaccine that comes in a pack of 10 vials. It is a combination of a purified capsular polysaccharide of Haemophilus influenzae type b and a B11 strain of Neisseria meningitidis serogroup B, both of which are covalently attached. The vaccine is a slightly opaque white suspension. PEDVAXHIB is routinely indicated for vaccination against the invasive disease caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b in children and infants of age 2 to 71 months. Note that liquid

PEDVAXHIB will not protect against Haemophilus influenzae of any other type except for type b. Also, it will not prevent other invasive diseases such as sepsis or meningitis.

The preferred site of intramuscular injection is the outer area of the upper arm or anterolateral thigh. Active vaccination on the buttocks of children is not recommended since it has the potential risk of injury to the sciatic nerve. The vaccine is NOT recommended in infants of age 6 weeks or younger. Store it in a refrigerator. Do not freeze.
