Diprivan 1% Single Dose Vial, 10 Mg / Ml, 20 Mll is a sterile, nonpyrogenic emulsion of propofol, designed for intravenous administration. Each milliliter contains 10 mg of propofol, and the vial holds a total volume of 20 mL. This formulation is primarily used as a short-acting sedative-hypnotic agent, commonly employed for the induction and maintenance of general anesthesia, as well as for the sedation of intubated.

The formulation of Diprivan 1% is free from benzyl alcohol, a preservative known to cause toxicity in neonates and certain other patient populations. This makes it a suitable option for use in patients who are sensitive to such preservatives. Its emulsion base is comprised of soya oil, glycerol, and purified egg phosphatide, which aid in the intravenous delivery of the medication.

Diprivan contains ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), a chelating agent added to reduce the risk of microbial growth.
