Description

Botox therapeutic is an injection containing 100 U of Clostridium botulinum toxin as an active ingredient. It also contains human albumin and sodium chloride. The injection is supplied in a clear glass vial as a vacuum-dried white sterile powder. The injection works by temporarily relaxing the spastic/contracting or overactive muscles. Botox is also indicated in urine incontinence as it prevents the leakage of urine when injected in the bladder. Moreover, it is used to treat blepharospasm, excessive blinking of the eye and strabismus. Botox is used to treat overactive muscles causing cervical dystonia in adults. It is also used in the treatment of excessive sweating in the armpit area and headache pain caused by migraine. Botox is not recommended in pregnancy or patient with breast feeding. The injection is dissolved in sterile saline solution prior to its immediate use. The injection should be used within 24 hours of reconstitution.
